Injectables

At Harpeth Valley Dermatology Botulinum Toxin injections are among the most popular facial rejuvenation treatments available. The treatments we do with Botulinum Toxin are completely safe and have been approved by the FDA for a variety of medical and cosmetic applications. The neurotoxin injections relax the facial muscles that are responsible for stubborn wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, forehead, and elsewhere on the face. When these muscles relax, the skin becomes smoother, and wrinkles fade or disappear entirely.

The neurotoxin treatment process is quick, convenient, safe, and essentially painless. A precise amount of the product is injected into the muscles that require treatment. The injection process takes only a few minutes, after which the patients can return to their normal activities immediately. As the injections take effect over the next week, facial muscles will relax, smoothing away wrinkles and fine lines to produce a more youthful appearance that will last for up to 3-6 months.

BOTOX®

Botox® Cosmetic is the best known single cosmetic product in the US.  The product is a neuromodulator used to temporarily diminish the dynamic wrinkles of the face.  The most frequent sites for injection are the glabellar area (between the eyebrows) and lateral canthus area (crow’s feet).

It can also be used for fine lines around the mouth, and shaping the brow.

BOTOX® THERAPEUTIC is used to diminish underarm (axillary) sweating, or hyperhidrosis.

DYSPORT®

Prescription Dysport is an injection used to temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas.

While Dysport correction lasts an average of four months, repeated treatments can give you longer lasting results. For best results it can be combined with other rejuvenation treatments. Dysport has been used safely on millions of patient’s worldwide over a decade with virtually no side effects.

Fillers

Fillers are a family of products which are used to enhance the appearance of aging skin and volume loss.   The most common type of filler is hyaluronic acid, a gel substance which when injected produces a naturally enhanced appearance to the face. These products have evolved over the last 15 years to be a sophisticated and minimally invasive way to deter the effects of aging.  The effects can last from 6-12 months.

Fillers are introduced under the skin to improve some of the most common areas of concern:

  • Smile Lines “Those pesky bar codes above the lip”

  • Lip Volumizing

  • Lip Border Definition

  • Cheek Augmentation

  • Nasolabial Folds

  • Marionette Lines

  • Facial Wrinkles

When seeking a consultation with one of our physicians, the planning begins.  You and your provider will review the products and outline a program designed with your needs in mind.   An initial consultation with the provider is required before the procedure can be scheduled.  We look forward to enhancing your appearance.

The filler outlook has expanded, in fact exploded in past years, with new products on the horizon.

We currently carry a wide spectrum of filler products

  • Restylane® Lyft

  • Restylane® Defyne

  • Restylane® Refyne

  • Restylane® Contour

Kybella

What is Kybella®?

Kybella®  is deoxycholic acid injection used to treat moderate fat in the submental area, also known as the “double chin”  We call this “double chin” submental fullness. The best candidates for this injection have mild to moderate submental fullness and good skin tone.

Our physicians at Affiliated Dermatologists will help guide you in selection of products to enhance your appearance.

Several injections are required to gradually reduce the appearance of fat below the chin. Once the fat cells are destroyed by Kybella®,  it will not come back.  The destruction of fat cells by Kybella® is considered permanent.  The facial profile is enhanced by the loss of your “double chin”.

What is expected in Kybella® Treatment?

The submental area is identified and marked.  Topical anesthetic is applied to the skin.  A series of tiny injections are introduced to the submental area.  Some transient swelling and stinging is expected.  Gradual diminishment of the fat occurs over4-8 weeks.  Most patients need 2-4 treatments spaced about 2 months apart.
